The Blacktail Ranch is an 8,000 acre jewel, located at the base of the Continental Divide, where the Rockies meet the prairie. The Blacktail is best suited for groups of 10 - 50 that are looking for clean mountain air and a pristine  environment..  Our first and for most asset at the Blacktail Ranch is the magical land and its  sacred sites, a deep prehistoric limestone cavern, and ancient sun wheel are jsut a few.  The South Fork of the Dearborn River flows through the center of the ranch feeding rich meadows and deep, lush aspen groves.  Above the riverbed unspoiled acres of pine and fir roll into broad fields of native grasses and wildflowers.

The Blacktail Ranch was first homesteaded by our grandfather in the 1880's. Our family has lived and worked in this valley ever since. We have also been offering a variety of vacation options since the 1950's.

Our accommodations have changed a bit over the years , we now boost five (5) private cabins with their own bathrooms, private decks; each furnished with  coffee pots and  microwave ovens.  Three (3) of which have beautifully tiled Jacuzzi tubs.  We also have seven (7) less   expensive lodge rooms with shared  bathrooms.  All are  beautifully decorated in the western ranch motif.

The heart of the Blacktail is the kitchen and our experienced cooks offer a celebration of flavors using vegetables and herbs from our own gardens.  Our water is pure and sweet from mountain springs.
