Christ in the Wilderness (CITW) is a hermitage retreat center in the northwest corner of Illinois. Here all are welcome to relax, reflect, and enjoy solitude in a tranquil environment.
Our guests value nature, wildlife, and star-filled skies-all so evident here-but the special quality of Christ in the Wilderness is that it is a spirit center where people of all backgrounds feel at home. In this environment, everyone's journey in life is reverenced as sacred and unique.

PBonaivia6/2/2009I have had the opportunity to retreat a number of times at Christ in the Wilderness.  The hermitages are all beautifuly self contained, safe and in a setting that provides the space and spiritual energy for self discovery. Lots of birds, deer, wild turkeys to see on walks and a chapel that encourages you just to sit and become quiet. I love to cook special meals, catch up on my sleep, painting and journaling and just be!
