Christ in the Wilderness (CITW) is a hermitage retreat center in the northwest corner of Illinois. Here all are welcome to relax, reflect, and enjoy solitude in a tranquil environment. Our guests value nature, wildlife, and star-filled skies-all so evident here-but the special quality of Christ in the Wilderness is that it is a spirit center where people of all backgrounds feel at home. In this environment, everyone's journey in life is reverenced as sacred and unique.

It has its own self contained, very comfortable hermitages on 80 acres of rolling countryside that is beautiful in any season. If you like solitude, beauty, peace and a chance to "get away" from all the noise, there is not a better spot. There is a beautiful chapel on the grounds and many walking paths that also traveled by deer and wild turkeys. Sitting on the porch of the hermitage with a great book or journaling is a wonderful way to pass by an afternoon and the sunsets are awesome. When I was in the Corporate fast paced life, it was a lifesaver to know that I could escape three to four times a year and gain back my perspective. It it one of the best gifts I have ever given myself! | | Lori Wilbert | 1/23/2008 5:00:39 PM | | Christ in the Wilderness is an incredible experience of solitude. Walking trails allow you to explore and wander throughout the 80 acres and rarely if ever run into anyone with small benches or chairs placed throughout the woods, meadowland for quiet and meditation. The hermitages are more than comfortable, everything you need to feel safe after a day of wandering & solitude. I have made 5 retreats and everyone has been excellent, no matter the time of year. |
