Samaya Retreat

Rosebank, NSW, Australia

This small retreat located in the hills above Byron Bay is an offshoot of an Osho Ashram (Ashram in the Bush) that is undergoing some transition. But the facilities have lots of potential  and are good for certain small groups.

Personal retreats can either be completely self directed including use of the shared kitchen, or you can join in on the ashram activities such as eating together, daily meditation and several hours of karma yoga.

Facilities include a small meditation room, hot tub, sauna, 7km of walking tracks, sweat lodge, and a swimming hole.  Toilets are composting, but clean and easy to use.

The shower block and kitchen are separate buildings and include cold showers for a refreshing end to a hot day.

Groups of up to 10 for indoor yoga or 25 seated meditation, with room for 25 people overnight can use the main house which features separate men’s and women’s dorms, the meditation/ meeting room and a small self catering kitchen.

There is also a lovely open and flat lawn for movement groups such as Tai Chi.
