I have been 3 times so far. I find it to be the most peaceful place on earth. Not only can you talk to God there. You find Him there. I felt His presence all around. It is a great place to go no matter what you are going through or weather you just need time to yourself. Frank, Sr. Julia are great care takers. They keep it up beautifully. They give you your privacy, but if you go up to the main house and want to talk, they well. The library the have there is wonderful. Has many book, music., sermans, just anything you could read or use in some way or another for comforting yourself. Or answers. I call it my home away from home. I simply love it there.

I have had the opportunity to retreat a number of times at Christ in the Wilderness. The hermitages are all beautifuly self contained, safe and in a setting that provides the space and spiritual energy for self discovery. Lots of birds, deer, wild turkeys to see on walks and a chapel that encourages you just to sit and become quiet. I love to cook special meals, catch up on my sleep, painting and journaling and just be!

I have retreated at Christ In the Wilderness for the last fifteen years at least once and many times three or four times a year. It has its own self contained, very comfortable hermitages on 80 acres of rolling countryside that is beautiful in any season. If you like solitude, beauty, peace and a chance to "get away" from all the noise, there is not a better spot. There is a beautiful chapel on the grounds and many walking paths that also traveled by deer and wild turkeys. Sitting on the porch of the hermitage with a great book or journaling is a wonderful way to pass by an afternoon and the sunsets are awesome. When I was in the Corporate fast paced life, it was a lifesaver to know that I could escape three to four times a year and gain back my perspective. It it one of the best gifts I have ever given myself!

Christ in the Wilderness is an incredible experience of solitude. Walking trails allow you to explore and wander throughout the 80 acres and rarely if ever run into anyone with small benches or chairs placed throughout the woods, meadowland for quiet and meditation. The hermitages are more than comfortable, everything you need to feel safe after a day of wandering & solitude. I have made 5 retreats and everyone has been excellent, no matter the time of year.
