This is a beautiful, "thin" place--one of the best kept secrets in Minnesota. It is a labor of love by the staff and volunteers. It was started by three Catholic sisters of St. Joseph twenty years ago with the mission of being open to all people. Delicious meals are provided. I loved my three times there, especially during the winter. These were powerful, transformative experiences for me. Definitely buggy in the summer--it is after all in the woods. If you are looking for a quiet, contemplative retreat check this out.

My wife and I visited the retreat in 2006, based on the non-denominational theme we thought it would still be inviting. During our tour we were told there was no biases toward any religion or belief, but when we were shown the meditation room, there was a statue of Budah as a focal point, with kneeling pads etc. Despite the fact that the retreat was originally run by 2 Catholic nun's/ sister's, any evidence of a christian belief was out-weighed by the Budah in the prayer room.
From a facility standpoint, all in all, it was very nice and inviting, but to say one thing and do another, is just lying.
