I stayed at the Mairela Retreat in Finland this summer (2008)from the 25th August to the 1st September. I stayed with Sara and her daughter Emma in their house which is next to the wood cabin which she also has visitors in. I shared my experience with another wonderful lady who was visiting the house. The surroundings were just stunning and being around that much nature is restorative and inspiring in itself. I cant quite describe how marvellous the week was and how refreshed I felt afterwards. Throughout the week we spent our time walking the dogs, doing qui gung, spiritual work and meditation, swimming in the lake (cold but very refreshing!), having saunas, playing Monopoly (I'd forgotten how competetive this makes everyone!) chatting and being generally incredibly well looked after and held. By the end of the week we felt like quite a family and it was quite a wrench having to return to a world with lots of hustle and bustle. I would highly reccomend this retreat, it gives you a chance to slow down, work out what you need and ask for it in a supportive, loving and natural atmosphere.

I spent a week at Mairela at the end of August. I had the best time ever with the best people ever. It was the most beautiful place I have ever come across, and since being there peaceful has taken on a new meaning. I felt happy - real happiness like I never new existed, found an inner peace and now feel stronger and more in control of my life. I loved swimming to the rock in the lake, the fab sauna followed by a dive in the lake in the evening, going out in the boat and walking through the woods with the dogs - it was all so much fun. I will always be grateful for the way I was looked after whilst I was there and for all the help I was given to find my way back onto the path of life and into the flow! I no longer have the burden of feeling that I have to be a perfect something and am learning to let go of old attachments, which way you down and hold you back, so that I can move on and make a new life of my choosing. I had yummy food too!! Mairela will always hold a special place in my heart. I still miss being there and can't wait until I can go back next year.
