Inspired by the exotic tropical forest overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Samasati is a retreat that offers a total escape. The secluded site, high in the hills, offers the chance to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy the beauty of luxuriant natural surroundings. Samasati is truly a one-of-a–kind retreat in Costa Rica. Nestled in 250 acres of virgin forest overlooking the ocean, the retreat is based on high standards of sustainable living, and is the perfect (and romantic!) getaway for nature lovers, adventure fans, yoga practitioners and groups. The local temperature is a stable 80 degrees ( 28 C) year around. The climate has often been called a "micro-climate", implying that the variable factors affecting this region are independent from the rest of the neighboring areas. Onsite, we have an open-air buffet style restaurant with vegetarian options and outdoor jacuzzi, a juice bar and two serene yoga/meditation centers. We offer amazing spa services, daily yoga classes, and daily shuttles to the local beach town, Puerto Viejo. Laundry services and Wi-Fi are available to guests. Several fun excursions are offered in the local area such as surfing, zip-lining, jungle adventures, horseback riding, and touring the Chocolate Museum and Jaguar Animal Rescue Center. Stay with us on a personal retreat and take advantage of our many services, or join in on one of our programmed retreats- see the calendar on our website.

Samasati began as Costa Rica's first Eco-retreat Bio-reserve and Yoga Center twenty years ago. Located in a 400 year old primary rainforest overlooking the Caribbean, Samasati was built using oxen to haul supplies into the jungle. Water systems come from rainwater collected by hand-build structures and are reused throughout the property.Giving strict ecological promises to the land, Samasati is a true "hand-built" ecological reserve that's involved with various eco-conservation efforts.
