Joshua Tree Spiritual Retreat Center is the oldest and largest retreat center in the Western United States; a unique architectural landmark on a 420 acre sacred site. Our Center is well-suited for retreat groups, and events for 15 to 300 people indoors, and up to 5000 people for outdoor camping. Our versatile gathering venues include a huge outdoor amphitheater with fire pit and stage, swimming pool, warm pool, labyrinth, over 18 energy vortexes (vortices), nature trails, fountains, spa, massage, indoor meeting rooms of various sizes, outdoor meeting spaces, cafeteria, personal kitchens, and a spacious, inspirational chapel. There are dozens of breakout alcoves nestled amid shade trees or lovely desert foliage, and a large outdoor yoga pad.
We offer a variety of "Build-a-retreat" options such as Yoga and Breathwork classes, Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Meditation, Didgeridoo, Throat Singing, Watsu, Drum Circles and more!
The architecture was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and son, Lloyd Wright, . The two and three-room cottages provide 22 guest rooms, each with a private shower. We also offer housing in The Caravansary of Joy which has 25 large guest rooms with private and semi-private baths.

Mission/Lineage: Edwin John Dingle, known as Ding Le Mei to over 250,000 students, was born in England in 1881. He became a journalist and established a publishing empire in Hong Kong. On a mapping expedition across China in the early 1900s, he walked across China and into Tibet.
In 1941, he established the Mentalphysics Spiritual Teaching and Retreat Center. He wanted to create a sacred space where great leaders would come. World-renowned authors, teachers, and spiritual leaders have blessed this land.

Travel Info: We are located just outside Joshua Tree National Park between Los Angeles and Phoenix. We are located approximately 30 minutes from Palm Springs International Airport, 1½ hours from Ontario Airport, 1 ¾ hours from Orange County International Airport and 2 hours from Los Angeles. Our high desert (3000 ft) locale boasts wonderfully cool evenings even during the warmest of seasons. The Joshua Tree National Park is only 6 miles away, and aside from our own hiking trails, nearby is a unique and beautiful marshland with additional hiking just minutes away.
