Very refreshing and direct, Phakchok Rinpoche brilliantly bridges the distance between Western householders and Tibetan Rinpoches, having experienced both worlds. His teachings are in good English, full of both the wisdom of his teachers and his own personal anecdotes. Some examples:
"The Buddhist system is designed to get you out of systems. Buddha teaches how to go beyond all views.
Your understanding should be vast but your practice should be simple. Slow progress is better, like in yoga asanas.
If you tie a snake in a knot, it naturally knows how to undo the knot and unwind itself. Let your mind do that itself, too.
Vast clarity is wisdom; narrow clarity is thought. Let go.
Every morning (mentally) give up everything!"
