Joshua Tree Retreat Center is a sanctuary poised at the threshold of Joshua Tree Village. Only 6 miles from the Joshua Tree National Park, this 400-acre retreat sits just 2 hours from Los Angeles, 2 ½ from San Diego, and 3 ½ from Las Vegas. We accommodate both personal and group retreats, including groups ranging from 15-278 participants indoors. Our center’s historic architecture, built and designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and son Lloyd, harmonizes with the natural wonder of the desert landscape. Chefs and kitchens are available for the groups, and we are known for our great food! We have a beautiful swimming pool and a large Jacuzzi, a labyrinth, a fire pit, and open air amphitheater with stage. We have many large and small meeting spaces. Joshua Tree is in the high desert, and in even in the summer we have cool mornings and nights. The night skies are amazing – you can see the Milky Way just overhead. Massage is available – please set up your appointment as early as possible. There are local yoga teachers available for your group as well, as are drum circle facilitators, and singing bowl performances and much more.

Mission/Lineage: The Joshua Tree Retreat Center was built in 1941 by Edwin J. DIngle, known as DIng Le Mei. Mr. Dingle found the Institute as a way to teach the Western world a system of breathing techniques and yoga that he learned in Tibet, and that he called Mentalphysics. Another goal of his was to create a place of refuge that would be self sustaining - off the grid, to use the modern term - where people could come to reconnect with themselves, with the spirit, and with nature.

Travel Info: The Joshua Tree Retreat Center is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Los Angeles and San Diego and a 3 1/2 hour drive from Las Vegas. We are just off Highway 62, easily accessible from I-10. We are right up the hill from Palm Springs, and the nearest airport is Palm Springs International Airport.
