This is an extraordinary place full of genuine Hawaiian mana (blessings). It can be felt the moment you set foot on our lush land.
We offer luxurious and unique accommodations in our private cottages and our communal Opua House. All are surrounded by dense greenery, ocean views, ancient imported artwork and our loving intention.
Come stay with us and awaken your eco-soul! Observe our “off the grid” ways of living and learn how you can choose to live elegantly green too.
You may want to come to create your own personal retreat time in our totally safe, nurturing space and surroundings. If you need a little guidance, you can book a private session with Kutira or Raphael.
We also offer a variety of programs throughout the year. Our calendar of events may include conferences and workshops that provide cutting edge teachings which will allow you to cultivate healthy, sustainable living practices which honor our mother earth and will awaken the deeper consciousness within.
The teaching of Embodied Spirituality & Sustainability is enriched by many traditional Hawaiian, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Tantra and Shamanic teachings expanded into a today approach that enlivens your soul journey. The Kahua Institute has created an organic farm that is completely "off the grid".
We are “off the grid” because our electricity comes entirely from solar panels. So that we don't loose power, we have a backup generator which uses bio-diesel. Our water is pumped up from 460-foot wells connected to an underground aquifer. We also have permaculture gardens and beekeeping.

Travel Info: We are located on the island of Maui in the Hawaiian Islands. We are on the north side of the island off the Hana Highway.
We are approximately 40 minutes from Maui's major airport located in Kahului (OGG). The closest towns are Haiku, Paia and Makawao, all are a thirty minute drive from us.
We recommend renting a car as there is no public transportation this far out and taxi service can run quite high.
Staying with us will cut a good portion of travel time and distance off your adventures to major sightseeing spots such as Haleakala National Parks Haleakala Crater, Oheo Gulch (seven sacred pools) and Hana.
