Aug 3 - 27: Path of Heroes: Perfect Caring and Self-Mastery Retreat
The path of the Bodhisattva involves learning to care for ourselves in new ways-ways that involve developing self-mastery. This month-long retreat blends meditation with insights from Path of Heroes; Birth of Enlightenment to create the ideal circumstances to catalyze the spiritual search.
Week One: Penetrating Dualism: Dream and Awareness Examine the nature of unborn awareness. We begin by looking carefully for new ways of knowing ourselves that break through barriers that separate us from others and the world around us.
Week Two: Unity of Tranquility and Awakened Awareness Rest in the stillness of the basis-of-all, the ground of being. We master mind by uniting two forms of meditation: developing tranquility (shamatha) and developing insight (vipasyana).
Week Three: Exchanging Self for Others Alternately practice unconditioned giving and taking on of all suffering. Perfect caring is cultivated through the practice of Tong-len, a breathing practice that refines the experience of compassion.
Week Four: Guidelines for Self-Mastery Unify all that you do as practice. For those who focus the mind on the Dharma, wisdom manifest through even the most mundane activities. We learn to apply the teachings in all circumstances.
