Kum Nye is a series of gentle physical exercises from Tibet that work to integrate and balance the physical and psychological. Unlike other mind-body exercises, Kum Nye often provides immediate benefits, even to those with limited physical capabilities.
The exercises are easy to learn and can be safely practiced by young and old. Kum Nye has been practiced by thousands of students at the Nyingma Institute since its introduction in the early 1970s. Students find that the exercises have a calming effect that can be helpful in controlling negative thoughts and releasing stress.

About Nyingma Institute:
Located in one of the most beautiful areas on earth, the Berkeley hills over looking the San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge, the Nyingma Institute offers Buddhist education for our time. This unique and many-faceted approach blends meditation practice, study of traditional Buddhist subjects, and Dharma work to bring the Buddha’s teaching into daily life. A varied program of classes, workshops and retreats, celebrates the Nyingma Institute’s continued commitment to bringing the compassionate wisdom of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition to the West.
The Nyingma Institute was founded by Tarthang Tulku, an accomplished Tibetan Lama who came to the United States in 1969 and since that time has devoted himself to establishing a firm foundation for Buddhism in the West. For more than twenty-five years, Western students have worked under his direction to preserve the Buddhist traditions of Asia and to bring the benefits of these teachings into our society.
