According to Twelve Step programs, we must turn our lives over to “a power greater than ourselves” to recover from our addictions. When facing this proposition, many Buddhists struggle to find a way to understand God in light of their own nontheistic view. In this retreat, we will explore how to work with a higher power from a Buddhist perspective, using a combination of traditional and contemporary Buddhist meditation practices, interactive exercises, lectures and group discussion. All are welcome and introductory meditation instruction will be offered.
