Pendle Hill, founded by Quakers in 1930 as a center for study and contemplation, offers spiritually renewing programs for people of all faiths throughout the year. We offer more than 50 workshops, retreats and short courses each year taught by a respected, gifted leaders. Themes include spiritual life, Quaker faith and practice, religious study, social concerns, bodywork, literature and the creative arts. Every program includes opportunities for spiritual refreshment, relaxation in a lovely setting, intellectual stimulation, participation in a vibrant community, and good conversation with people from around the country and world.
May 22-25 The Great Turning: Revolution for the Sake of Life on Earth with Joanna Macy The Great Turning is a name for the shift from the industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization. It is the essential adventure of our time, allowing us to discover new dimensions of courage, creativity and spiritual power. This course examines key features of this epochal revolution, ways we are already taking part in it and steps we can take for fuller engagement. Our sessions will include reflective sharing, meditations, and interactive practices for experiencing our mutual belonging in the living body of Earth and our unique gifts for the healing of our world.
