Driving Meditation |
"When we are driving,
we tend to think of arriving, and we sacrifice the journey for the
sake of the arrival. But life is to be found in the present moment,
not in the future. In fact, we may suffer more after we arrive at
our destination."

Is It Only Rock and Roll? By Ken Wilber |
"Isn't middle brow culture
somehow not really spiritual? I hear the same thing about TV all the
time: really serious scholars, let alone spiritual practitioners,
shouldn't find any of it interesting. What a small God, that. All
forms are one with Emptiness, no exceptions. Why avoid those particular
forms, or look down on them? "

Health Maintenance Kit By Kathleen Finn Mendola |
Whether you're off to your cousin's wedding in Des Moines or a vipasana retreat
in Mexico, it pays to ensure that your travels are free from health saboteurs such
as poor digestion, lack of sleep, and overexertion. Doing this takes a little
forethought, a minimum of effort, and a small travel case to tuck into your carry-on
bag or place in the back seat of your car."

Women in Islam by Seyedeh Dr. Nahid Angha |
"In the west, the common
picture of a Muslim woman is the stereotype of a woman hidden behind
a veil, a voiceless, silent figure, bereft of rights. However, Islam
covers many lands with many diverse cultures. One cannot bring all
these cultures, political systems, national heritage, belief systems,
geographical locations, historical backgrounds, and the peoples who
embody them under one uniform category or think of them as one system."

Why Religion Matters: The Fate of the Human Spirit in an Age of
Disbelief by Huston Smith |
"Huston Smith, America's
leading scholar on world religion, has a new book out-and boy, is
he ticked off. Although the language of Why Religion Matters: The
Fate of the Human Spirit in an Age of Disbelief (Harper SanFrancisco)
is often genteel, acid seeps out between the lines. Smith is fed up
with a mainstream culture that he says has "written science a blank
check" to explain the universe and relegated religion to the sidelines."

Quote: Cheri Huber, The Fear Book |
| "When we are centered,
nothing is personal, so there is no idea of fault or blame or control
over what happens. The reason fear keeps such a tight grip on us is
that we believe there is a right way for things to be. We think that
finding the right way to do everything will protect us and we won't
have to be afraid." |
