Atisha Centre is a peaceful retreat centre and hub of Buddhist education, nestled in the quiet native bushland of central Victoria, near Bendigo. Founded in 1981, the Centre provides a serene and welcoming setting for those interested in exploring the Buddhadharma.
Situated in close proximity to Atisha Centre is the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion, currently under construction, and soon to become among the most significant Buddhist temples and pilgrimage destinations in the world, and the Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery, where monks devote themselves to study, meditation and spiritual transformation.
Atisha Centre recognises His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama as our spiritual leader. The Dja Dja Wrung people are proudly acknowledged as the traditional owners of this land.
Guests may choose either twin share with ensuite or three or four bed rooms with shared bathrooms in our recently built She Di Kang Sar House of Blissful Peace.
Accommodation is available throughout the year for retreats, courses, personal retreats and visits to the centre. We welcome those who are seeking a quiet getaway from the rat race of ordinary life.
All bedding and linen is provided except for towels and personal toiletries.
We are not able to provide meals for guests other than during courses and organised retreats, however there are self-catering kitchen and dining facilities available for you to use with crockery etc. provided. Please note our kitchen is strictly vegetarian.

We accept applications and enquiries from people who would like to stay for an extended period at Atisha Centre and work for accommmodation. However we do not guarantee that a suitable placement will be possible. Each case is evaluated by the Director and suitable arrangements negotiated on an individual basis.

Travel Info: Atisha Centre is 150 Km from Melbourne, Victoria. Nearest airport is Tullamarine (MEL).
Travel by train from Southern Cross station to Bendigo or bus from the airport.
Atisha Centre is located about 15 minutes North West of Bendigo CBD, on Sandhurst Town Road, just off the corner of Allies Road.
Driving From Bendigo CBD: At the Charring Cross Fountain intersection in the CBD of Bendigo, turn left and travel up View Street and turn left at the first traffic lights into Barnard Street, then at the next set of traffic lights turn right and travel up Eaglehawk Road, travelling until you reach Eaglehawk.
At the Eaglehawk Town Hall, take the left fork of the road onto the Loddon Valley Highway (B260 to Kerang and Swan Hill), and travel a few kilometres then turn left into Allies Road next to the Allies Hotel. You will cross the railway line.
Travel up Allies Road a few kilometres and turn right into Sandhurst Town Road, then the first left into the entrance road up to Atisha Centre.
